Group trips in Egypt
Pyramids, the Nile by felucca and the Red Sea reef: five thousand years in ten days.
Egypt is the trip of temples and the river: Cairo with the pyramids and the new Grand Museum, then Luxor, the Valley of the Kings and sailing down to Aswan and Abu Simbel. Those who want to finish by the sea add Sharm or Dahab on the Red Sea.
As a group the Nile is done by dahabeya, the traditional sailing boat hosting eight or twelve with crew: an experience that simply does not exist for solo travellers. And Egyptologist guides, who truly change the visit, are shared painlessly.

No trip is scheduled right now. Organise it yourself: publish the itinerary, others ask to join and you approve.
When to go
October to April: bearable heat in Luxor and Aswan, mild Cairo. From June to September the south tops 40 degrees and sites are visited only at dawn; the Red Sea is pleasant all year.
Don't miss

- Cairo and Giza β The pyramids, the Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Khan el-Khalili.
- Luxor β Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, a balloon at dawn.
- Aswan and Abu Simbel β Philae, the temple of Ramses II, Nubian villages.
- Nile cruise β From Luxor to Aswan by dahabeya or motor ship.
- Sharm and Dahab β The Blue Hole and the Red Sea reefs.
π‘ The group tip
Book a dahabeya for the whole group instead of the big motor ship: three or four nights of silent sailing, village stops and a cook on board. In Cairo one guide for everyone is the difference between "seeing" and "understanding".
Documents and entry
Visa required: online e-Visa before departure or visa on arrival. Passport valid for at least 6 months.
Frequently asked questions
How many days for classic Egypt?
Eight to ten days: three in Cairo, then Luxor, a cruise to Aswan and Abu Simbel. Another three or four days finish at the Red Sea, which you can also join just for the finale.
Do I need a visa for Egypt?
Yes, most visitors get it on arrival for a fee or online before departure; the Sinai alone (Sharm) has different rules. Check your foreign office.
Is Egypt safe for tourists?
The Nile and Red Sea tourist areas are busy and policed. Follow your foreign office's current advice and move with reliable operators and drivers, better still together.
