Group trips in Australia
Sydney, the reef and Uluru: the trip of a lifetime, at half the price as a group.
Australia is far and vast, so you must choose: the east coast from Sydney to Cairns with the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays; Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road; the Red Centre with Uluru; wild Tasmania. Three weeks allow two of these regions, not more.
The group is what makes Australia affordable: shared vans and campervans (the most common formula), reef boats booked together, houses on the coast. And a trip of long stops suits those who want to join only Sydney and the coast, or only the Red Centre.

When to go
September–November and March–May for Sydney and Melbourne; the tropical north (Cairns, the reef) from May to October, in the dry season; Uluru from May to September, when the heat is bearable. December–February is full summer: lovely in the south, humid and wet in the north.
Don't miss

- Sydney — The Opera House, Bondi and the coastal walk, the Blue Mountains.
- Great Barrier Reef — Snorkelling and diving from Cairns or Port Douglas.
- Whitsundays — Whitehaven Beach by sailing boat.
- Uluru — The monolith at sunrise and sunset, Kata Tjuta.
- Great Ocean Road — The Twelve Apostles from Melbourne.
💡 The group tip
On the east coast a four- or six-berth campervan is both home and transport: book it months ahead and split fuel and campsites. Domestic flights are long and pricey: settle the regions first and buy the flights together.
Documents and entry
Passport required. The eVisitor (free of charge) is mandatory and must be requested online before departure.
Frequently asked questions
How many weeks for Australia?
At least two, better three: one region per week. Sydney with the coast up to Cairns is the classic; Uluru adds three days and a flight. Do not try to see everything.
Do I need a visa for Australia?
Yes: EU citizens apply online before departure for the free eVisitor, valid for stays up to three months. Check your foreign office.
How much does Australia cost as a group?
It is expensive for lodging, excursions and domestic flights, but a shared campervan, self-catering and free national parks bring it back to reasonable costs. The long-haul flight remains the biggest expense.
