Group trips in Greece

Athens and the islands by ferry: the summer group trip by definition, with villas to share.

⏱ Typical length: 7–12 days💶 Budget: medium🏖️ Relax🎉 Party🏛️ Culture

Greece is the summer classic: two days in Athens between the Acropolis and Plaka, then the ferry to the islands. Cyclades for the white and blue (Santorini, Mykonos, but also cheaper Naxos and Paros), Crete for those who want an island-continent, Rhodes and the Dodecanese for history.

As a group you rent pool villas that in Santorini cost as much as two rooms, hire a boat for the day, book the ferry for everyone. The islands are perfect stops to join: some do only Crete, some only the Cyclades.

When to go

May–June and September–early October: warm sea, reasonable prices, fewer crowds. July–August is busy, expensive and windy in the Cyclades (the meltemi). Athens is good even in winter.

Don't miss

💡 The group tip

Pick two or three islands close to each other, no more: ferries eat half days. A pool villa for eight on Naxos or Paros costs less than four doubles, and renting a licence-free boat splits beautifully.

Documents and entry

EU/Schengen: a valid national ID card (or passport) is enough.

Frequently asked questions

Which islands for a group?

Naxos and Paros for value and beaches, Santorini for the postcard (one night is enough), Ios and Mykonos for nightlife, Crete if you have a full week. On Worldmates every island is a separate stop.

Do I need a passport for Greece?

For EU citizens a valid national ID card is enough, including domestic flights and ferries: Greece is in the EU and Schengen.

Is Greece expensive?

It depends on the island and the month: Santorini and Mykonos in August are, Naxos in June is not. Splitting villas and boats brings the cost per head down a lot.
