Group trips in Norway

Fjords, Lofoten and Preikestolen: Europe's grandest nature, with the costs shared among friends.

⏱ Typical length: 7–12 days💶 Budget: very high🏔️ Adventure🏖️ Relax

Norway is the country of fjords and iconic hikes: Bergen and the Geirangerfjord, the climbs to Preikestolen and Trolltunga, the Flåm railway, and further north the Lofoten with red fishermen's cabins and Tromsø for the aurora. Orderly, safe, expensive.

As a group Norway changes face: Lofoten rorbu (fishermen's cabins) sleep four to six, the car is split, dinners are cooked. With modular participation, those who only want the aurora join in Tromsø, those who want fjords in Bergen.

June–August for fjords and hiking (Trolltunga only open in summer), with the midnight sun in the north. February–March and September–October for the aurora in Lofoten and Tromsø, with usable daylight.

Don't miss

💡 The group tip

Fly to Bodø or Evenes and rent a car for Lofoten: split four ways it costs less than buses. Book rorbu months ahead and bring supermarket food: restaurants are the expense that gets away.

Frequently asked questions

Fjords or Lofoten?

With a week pick one: Bergen and the southern fjords, or Lofoten with Tromsø. With twelve days you do both with a domestic flight. On Worldmates a trip can have two stops you join separately.

Do I need a passport for Norway?

Norway is in the Schengen area: EU citizens travel with a valid national ID card or passport. Check your foreign office.

When can you see the aurora in Norway?

From late September to late March, with clear skies away from lights. In Lofoten and Tromsø the odds are high; you need at least three or four nights for a good chance.
