Group trips in the UK

London, Edinburgh and the Highlands: concert cities and road-trip moors, in one trip.

⏱ Typical length: 5–10 days💶 Budget: high🏛️ Culture✈️ Mixed🎤 Concerts

The UK is two trips that marry well: London and the cities, with free museums, musicals and concerts almost every night; and Scotland, with Edinburgh and the Highlands driven between Glencoe, the Isle of Skye and Loch Ness. Cornwall and the Lake District for those seeking countryside.

As a group Scotland becomes the perfect road trip: shared car and cottages, drivers taking turns on the left, pub dinners. And London is easier with many: apartments in the outer boroughs, group tickets for musicals, trips for a concert or a match.

May–September for Scotland and the countryside (in July–August the Highlands are full of midges, bring repellent). Edinburgh in August is the Fringe, the world's biggest festival. London works all year.

Don't miss

💡 The group tip

For the Highlands rent a car in Edinburgh or Inverness and book cottages ahead, especially on Skye. In London an Oyster or contactless card for everyone and an apartment in zone 2 save more than any discount.

Documents and entry

Passport required, plus the paid online ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation), valid for 2 years.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a passport for the UK?

Yes: since Brexit a national ID card is no longer enough for EU citizens, who must also apply online, before travelling, for the paid electronic travel authorisation (ETA). Check your foreign office.

How many days for London and Scotland?

Three or four for London, then five to seven for Edinburgh and the Highlands: ten days in total with a flight or the night train. Two stops you can join separately.

Is the UK expensive?

London is, especially for sleeping; Scotland less than you think off season. Free museums, shared cottages and cooking on the road trip keep costs in check.
